Made in the traditional Japanese style

A futon that will best suit those who likes firm mattresses. This futon is designed to be used on a flat surface, as you will feel the slats through it if you put it on a slat base. We recommend folding it into an S-shape in the morning, so it is flipped more or less every day. 

Minimalist and space saving

Since the Traditional Cotton Futon easily folds it makes for a great guest bed that does not take up much storage space. 

Natural

The Traditional Cotton Futon is made from layers of natural cotton to provide stable support. It is covered with unbleached cotton canvas which is tufted to keep the cotton in place. 

Handmade in New Zealand

Each natural cotton cover is individually sewn, then layers of raw carded cotton are carefully built up by hand before the cover is tufted to hold the materials together securely in place. We make all of our futons in our workshop in Oratia with carefully chosen materials.
